WLFI to launch crypto debit card, tokenizing real-world assets

World Liberty Financial (WLFI) is advancing its integration of digital assets into everyday financial practices with plans for a new debit card and a strategic focus on tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs). This initiative aims to bridge the gap between traditional spending and the burgeoning cryptocurrency ecosystem, potentially simplifying entry for a wider user base.

The platform intends to launch its debit card by the end of the first quarter of 2026, following a pilot program scheduled for the upcoming quarter. Co-founder Zach Witkoff articulated that this card will be a key component of a broader ecosystem, which will also include the stablecoin USD1 and a forthcoming WLFI application. The overarching objective is to facilitate a seamless and user-friendly transition into the crypto space.

During the TOKEN2049 conference, Witkoff participated in a panel discussion alongside Donald Trump Jr., son of the U.S. President. The conversation touched upon WLFI's ambitions in the tokenization of RWAs.

Regarding the tokenization of real-world assets, such as real estate and commodities like oil and gas, Witkoff expressed WLFI's interest in actively participating in this domain. Furthermore, the project aims to establish USD1 as a foundational currency for these tokenized assets, citing its perceived reliability, transparency, and cultural acceptance.

Witkoff also referenced past skepticism surrounding WLFI, recounting an instance where their project was dismissed by former Aptos leadership in 2024. He indicated that Aptos is now amenable to integrating USD1 into its ecosystem, a development he confirmed on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

The TOKEN2049 event gathered a significant contingent of cryptocurrency industry participants, influencers, and experts, reflecting the growing momentum and diverse interests within the sector.
